Crop residue studies simulate standard field applications of a test substance to representative study plots under controlled field conditions. These sites are maintained by our field staff, complete with security to restrict access. The test crop is grown using commercial practices and the test substance is applied under very specific parameters. Depending on protocol requirements of the individual study, samples are taken of the raw agricultural
commodity (RAC studies) at harvest or at specific periods thereafter
(decline studies). In the former case, a harvest residue is calculated
for registration purposes, whereas in the latter case, an approximation
of harvest interval extensions are also estimated. Although simplistic
in conduct and execution, these studies are highly regulated and
require technicians to practice GLP standards throughout the study.
Pacific Ag conducts many of these experiments at our
own field stations, where absolute control is possible with irrigations,
crop maintenance sprays, and access to the overall experimental area.
Quality assurance audits are conducted at several
critical periods during each study. Frequent and in-depth facility audits by sponsor
companies, government officials, and contracted QA auditors assure redundancy
in oversight with methods compliance and conduct of these important
studies.
